Overview
The Certified Data Protection Officer (C-DPO) helps prepare data privacy practitioners to act as data protection officers (DPOs) in UK organisations of any size. It is not a legal qualification but can act as a supplement to formal legal training in data protection and data privacy law; it equips UK GDPR practitioners to work with legal advisers and to ensure that UK GDPR compliance is effectively designed, implemented and maintained. It leads to the IBITGQ UK GDPR Data Protection Officer Certificate.
The aim of this certification is to help equip participants with the knowledge and skills to act as DPOs and ensure that UK GDPR compliance is effectively designed, implemented and maintained.
Certified Data Protection Officer (C-DPO) exam
Candidates take the Certified Data Protection Officer (C-DPO) exam set by IBITGQ at the end of the course. There is no extra charge for this exam.

This course is equivalent to 30 CPD points.
- Delegates are awarded the ISO 17024-certificated C-DPO provisional qualification by IBITGQ, upon the successful completion of the exam.
- Delegates are required to submit a portfolio of DPO work experience and 100 CPD learning hours, in order to achieve the C-DPO Professional level qualification by IBITGQ,
Prerequisites, entry requirements and restrictions
Have knowledge of the UK GDPR and have passed the Certified EU /UK GDPR Foundation examination or an equivalent certification.
Learning Objectives
This qualification consists of a number of learning objectives and outcomes. Each participant needs to be able to demonstrate an understanding of the following to achieve certification:
- The UK GDPR in its context.
- The DPO role and be able to apply knowledge in practical situations.
- All aspects of the processing of personal data.
- All aspects of data subject rights.
- How a controller or processor should use risk assessment, in the context of the UK GDPR, to select and implement appropriate technical and administrative controls.
- How a controller or processor should use risk assessment, in the context of the UK GDPR, to select and implement appropriate technical and administrative controls.
- The data processing requirements when transferring personal data to locations outside of the UK, particularly in relation to Cloud service providers.
The learning objectives and outcomes in this certification have been designed to develop both low-level and high-level thinking skills. The level of knowledge the candidate must attain to achieve each learning objective is indicated by cognitive levels or k-levels, which are:

Course Duration & Programme
This is a 4 day course and covered over 4 weeks.
- Participants are required to build a portfolio at the end of each week.
- The exam is done online and can be completed at our centre after day 4 or remotely.
